Yes, the days are flying past and the countdown is now in the single digits.  Hope you are considering entering the People's Choice Event?  It is a great way to support the IADR (International-Art-Doll-Registry) and also a wonderful opportunity to showcase your work.   How's that?  By not only having a doll to vote on but also having a link available for any possible buyer being able to go directly to your Artist's Studio page to see more of your creations. 

So let's go over one more time how it is going to work.  Get your doll entered this week.  NO LATER than 10:00 pm MST on October 1st (remember - you can enter any doll that you have made this year)!   After that time, the link to this special page for voting will be emailed out to all IADR members.  Yes, ALL!  Even if you haven't entered a doll.  In sharing the link and asking others to vote on a favorite doll is a lovely way to support fellow IADR members in this endeavor.  Also don't forget to vote yourself!!

There will be 13 days to share the link to your Facebook, Instagram, Threads (and any other platform that you like) inviting your friends, colleagues and relatives and ask them to come support this event by voting on a favorite (possibly your) doll.  Voting will end at midnight (MST)  Oct 13th.  The winners will be announced in the IADR Art Doll Magazine that will be available Oct 15th.

How to Submit?:  There is a Christmas Event Submission form that is available to IADR members only.  This is a simplified form as only one picture is required and no explanation is required.  Because your submission will also be linked to your Artist's Studio page, you may want to have that updated with any images of your work and links to your social platforms for viewing by the public if you wish to take advantage of the traffic to our website.

How does this Event work?:  The submission deadline is October 1st, 2023.  After that time frame (meaning Oct 2nd), all IADR members will receive the link to this unique page on our website.  At that point it will be up to you on how you want to share that link because it is that link is how people will find the page so they can vote.  So yes, I'll be posting this on my personal page, my group page, and my business page inviting my friends, relatives and those that follow me to come vote for my entry.  Will you be doing the same???

What do you win?:  This event offers a marketing prize instead of a cash prize.  The first place winner will be on the banner for the Sale Event that is in November.  They will also be featured in the new issue of the IADR Art Doll magazine that will be coming out in October.  Second and Third place winners will be placed on our Facebook banners and also mentioned in the Art Doll magazine.  Don't forget the increase in traffic to the website can create offers of a possible sale or commission from the foot traffic from the public as well.

Who can participate?:  All IADR members that are current with dues and wish to participate including judges as well as past winners and masters.  This is your time to play!  This is limited to only IADR members because of the link to the Artist's Page and our website.

This is also the last chance!  This is the last event that is available to participate in if one wants to be considered for the Big Cash awards that are in the Year End Event.  The Year End Event requires at least participation in one of the three prior events this year which this is one of those three.  So if you haven't participated yet but want to be thinking about the Year End... then jump on board here with this event and submit your entry.

Let me explain.  First of all, because the theme is magical memories, this can be anything you want as long as you explain how it supports the Event theme.  It doesn't have to be just about Santa and elves.  For myself one of my very first Christmas toys was a pink stuffed rabbit.  Now if the rabbit follows our registry guidelines which is:

​Now here is where we begin to play!  Because this event is chosen by the people we don't have to be on the QT about it.  In fact I encourage people to be sharing their works in progress for this event!  We can even get together and maybe do some brainstorming - zoom events about it.  The more you post, the more people know about what we are doing.

The more people know about the your doll, the bigger the interest of people that might come to vote.  Remember - voters don't have to be members of IADR.  This is where you get to call in those "favors" of your aunt, cousins, and siblings to come vote for you.  It's never to soon to start giving them peeks *smiling*.   ​

Now this is where we also play TAG - YOUR IT!  Because if you tag me in your posts regarding anything you want to have me share to our three IADR pages/groups, I am more than willing to do that.  So, if you post on your own personal timeline and tag me, then I know I can share it to everyone in the IADR.  

But... (there is always a but... *smiling*), if your post is important to read then post it to the public IADR and the private Facebook sites, because when I share your posts the verbiage gets shrunk to the next level down.  To TAG me or not is up to you, but know I am willing to share your images because the more places you can post - the more you can be seen.  Again, when you are posting out there remember to include the IADR (except for current juried show entries before they are judged) because the more activity we get... again, the more your art is seen.​

I will set up a hidden page on the website that would go activate the day the Doll Show/Sale begins.  On this page would be one (1) doll that was made throughout the year that captures the magical memories of Christmas for you.  It can be Santa Claus, faeries, elves, little girls with dolls or even something like the "Nightmare Before Christmas" as long as there isn't gore nor copyright infringements.

As always, the doll can be registered (after all why not? *smiling*) and this will be for members only.  The deadline for the Christmas theme doll/character event would be October 1st, 2023. Because then we would have a People's Choice selection of the doll that best represents the theme between October 1st & October 15th.  The first place winner would be the icon for the event, be on the website page, and on all posts from IADR promoting the event on Facebook and banner of the public IADR group page.  That's a lot of exposure! (*smiling*)  Second and Third place winners would cover the other two IADR banners.

Your submission must be a doll completed sometime from October 2022 to October 2023.  This is about getting a selling event going for November 2023 with a little Christmas magic thrown in.  Discover what inspires you this year and challenges you or brings out your inner child.  Then let's capture it to bring it into the new year and be ready for a great doll event toward this time next year.
