Just like Santa, I am checking my lists and checking them twice so as to not miss out on these deadlines coming up.
First on the list is the Deadline for sending in articles or pictures for the next edition of the IADR Art Doll magazine. If you want to have a DO WHAT YOU LOVE page, now is the time to get that new doll out there. If you are doing a Work in Progress, let us know and we'll add it to the Facebook Collage. The IADR Art Doll Magazine is YOUR magazine... let us know what you are creating and let us shout out about it. Deadline is December 20th, (Friday) for submission for the January 2025 issue. Send submissions to:
Next on the list is the Year End Juried Show submissions. If you have either entered a juried show in 2024 or participated in the People's Choice Event for 2024, then you are eligible to enter in the 2024 Year End Juried Show. Deadline is December 31st for submissions with the form being on our website.
If you are thinking 'Do I want to save money by signing up early for the 2025 IADR Art Doll Convention?' - the Early Bird discount ends December 31st, 2024. Yes, you will be able to sign up for attending the convention after that date, but the registration costs will be higher. Why? Because the discount is being offered to encourage early sign up to cover the initial convention costs. Reserving meals, preparing awards, paying for advertising, and conference room deposit fees are just some of the expenses that go into making this a fantastic event to be attending. So SAVE SAVE SAVE now by signing up early and marking your calendar for May 15-17th, 2025 in Florence, Italy.
If you are only attending one of the many workshops we are offering, get those sign ups in as well. No registration is required if you are ONLY attending a workshop but why miss out on the fun of the Juried Show, the Presentation at the Awards Night dinner, and some of the free workshops being offered for registered guests only. There is also an opportunity for to sell your dolls, but again those are for those that are registered with the IADR Art Doll Convention. Check out our website for more information at www.international-art-doll-registry.com/2025-convention.html.

The last thing on my list to check is the Winter Blues Instagram game coming in January 2025. Sign up now to be a Sponsor for the game and increase activity and followers to your own Instagram account by supporting this exciting activity. Deadline for signing up as a sponsor is December 30th, 2024.
Have a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays from the IADR. In the meantime I will be checking my stocking (email) to see what shows up. If you have any questions, please contact me at iadregistry@outlook.com.

Hello December! It is a busy time of year with the hustle and bustle of getting ready for the holidays. Just a reminder on your list of to-do things ...
Year End Juried Show
Have you submitted your entry yet? This is for any of the IADR members who have participated in an IADR juried show this year (2024) or participated in the People's Choice Event. Deadline for submitting your pieces is December 31st, 2024.
Have you registered for the IADR Art Doll Convention yet? December 31, 2024 is the last day to get the best rate to register for the IADR Art Doll Convention in Florence, Italy, for May 2025. After that date, the prices to register start to go up. To register guarantees a opportunity to enter our first live juried show, an opportunity to take workshops from talented artists, and a chance to sell your own artwork. For those getting articles to me for the January 2025 IADR Art Doll magazine, please try to submit them by December 20th, 2024.
Also, a big welcome to our newest member to the IADR family - Tiziana Boschin from Italy. Looking forward to getting to know her more and seeing her lovely creations.

The IADR is now on Bluesky social media app! What is Bluesky? It's hot! It's trending and growing by leaps and bounds.
Created by the same person that created the original Twitter social media, this is a new platform that now has over 20M (million) people!! 🎉
Created by the same person that created the original Twitter social media, this is a new platform that now has over 20M (million) people!! 🎉
I am still learning all the fun features to Bluesky myself, but there is a sense of positive outreach and community to this platform. To make this easier to understand - Bluesky is similar to Instagram that you can post to the stream of posts that creates the timeline. Then build a community of followers that will help your post be seen by either commenting on it, reposting it on their timeline, or simply leaving a like to it. The nice thing to Bluesky is that it works with #hashtags to help you be found in searches. Bluesky also allows outside links to your product in your post! That means a higher rate of people clicking on it and going to where they can learn more about your artwork instantly instead of having to look to other places (like your bio for example) for that information. Or simply loosing them because they could never find it.
So, how do you find the IADR on Bluesky? Here are the 3 easy steps to do just that.
1. Download the Bluesky app which has the butterfly logo on it (see image above). Then create your account.
1. Download the Bluesky app which has the butterfly logo on it (see image above). Then create your account.
2. Create your profile image and a banner. My banner on my business Bluesky account was roughly 1000 by 500 pixel. For the IADR banner I had to shrink the logo within that same space in order to get it to look the way I wanted it too. (We are already getting the word out about our 2025 IADR Art Doll Convention and have 3 followers).
3. Start building your community with going to the search option on the left hand side of the screen inside of your Bluesky account. Type in #iadregistry and you will find our account. Start following the IADR and we will follow you back. Use the hashtag - #iadregistry when posting your posts. (I am guessing on this part -- but it should work.) When you use the IADR hashtag when creating your post, then I should be able to do a search for anyone using it. When I find one of our IADR members using it I will then like the post, repost it on the IADR timeline, and comment. This will boost your post back up the stream on the timeline as we build our community.
Helpful Hint: As I said, posting to Bluesky is like jumping into a stream of flowing water. When you repost other people's post on to your timeline (which should be things you like or supporting other artists), then your own post gets lost. The helpful hint is PIN your post. When you create a post and post it to your timeline, go to the post and at the bottom of it - to the right should be three little grey dots. Click on them and a list of options should pop up for you. The first option should be is to PIN your post to your timeline. That way that post will be the first post anyone sees that comes to your page. So, as you help build your community of followers by being seen with reposting their posts on your timeline or simply sharing those things you enjoy --your PIN post will always be there. When you want to update it or change it out, you can unpin it and pin a new one. It also seems you can pin several posts to your timeline. I'll be doing more research into that and also planning on a more in-depth look at this new platform with an article about it in the January 2025 IADR Art Doll magazine.
And as always, if you have any questions about Bluesky or the IADR then drop me an email at iadregistry@outlook.com.

This is our logo for our IADR Art Doll Convention in Florence, Italy for May 2025. Thank you to Patrizia Cozzo for allowing IADR to use her doll as she represented our theme of Shine the Light so well.
For that is what we hope the convention will do - shine the light on the many talented artists that will be offering their skills, art, and time with us in May.
For that is what we hope the convention will do - shine the light on the many talented artists that will be offering their skills, art, and time with us in May.
But we are not there yet. We have a Convention Planning Meeting scheduled for 8:00 am MST - 4:00 pm (Italy time) on Wednesday, November 20th, 2024 via Zoom. Members of this committee should have received some of the information we will be discussing through Instant Messager prior to the meeting.
Please mark your calendar for that. If you are new and wish to be a part of the Planning Committee, simply email Lesley at iadregistry@outlook.com to let me know you are interested and to receive an invite to the Zoom meeting.
Also, mark your calendar for the IADR YEAR END Juried Show event as the deadline to enter is December 31st, 2024.
Welcome to our new member Mari Carmen Garcia Fernandez, though it is more of a welcome back as she is a returning member to IADR. Looking forward to seeing your art Mari, as you share it with us through Facebook and you now have a new opportunity by sharing your work in our IADR Art Doll magazine too!

We are more than just another doll group, we are a doll community that pulls together to help each other be seen. With this past week of the November Doll Sales we reached a 12% increase of new visits to our Doll Sale page with most of the traffic heading off to visit the Artist's Studio pages.
As CDO (Chief Doll Organizer) of the IADR (International Art Doll Registry), I feel it is my duty to try to help you achieve those goals of being found by potential buyers.
That is also why the link for the sale was posted on Facebook, Instagram, Threads, and the new Bluesky social media platform. But as I so often say, I can't do it without you. So, thank you for being an active part of the Sales event and sharing the link yourself. The IADR can't guarantee sales but we can guarantee we do our upmost to help get the word out and promote our amazing doll artists.
Also don't be shy. As a member of IADR you have so many ways to be seen - The Artist's Studio page, juried shows, and also by being involved with the IADR Art Doll magazine. If you have any questions on how best to use these tools for your own artwork, contact Lesley at iadregistry@outlook.com. I am always willing to try new ways to help being seen. With that in mind, I hope to be able to get more information out on Youtube and TikTok soon. These options are still in the beginning stages but I'll keep you updated.
In the meantime, remember December 31st is the Deadline for the Year End Event. For those wanting to participate in that event the details are on our website at https://www.international-art-doll-registry.com/year-end-2024-submission.html. This is the only Juried Show that you must be a member of IADR in order to compete.

Congratulations to Cecilia Alfarano for winning the Peoples' Choice Event. Her entry also captured the joy we have in introducing our first ever IADR (International Art Doll Registry) Convention for 2025.
First of all - this edition will be FREE! So please share the magazine and get the word out about our upcoming convention.
This special edition includes a complete guide to the convention jury show requirements as well as sales table information and a tentative itinerary of workshops.
We also created it to be a helpful guide for those planning to travel to Italy to attend the event and what might you need to do before traveling. Like the first thing is making sure your passport (or travel permit) is up-to-date.
There is even a peek into the beauty of Florence and the art it has to offer. Florence truly is a light of inspiration for any artist - no matter at what level of art skill.

Congratulations to all that participated in the Peoples' Choice Event. It is a group effort to get our page seen and the turnout was amazing.
This year's winner is Cecilia Alfarano with "It's Raining" which will be on our Special Convention Edition magazine as well as featured on our November Doll Sales Page.
Talking of the November Doll Sales Page, our IADR Doll Sale will be going live on November 7th. There is still time if you wish to be added to the sales page. The deadline is November 1st if you want to send a doll picture linked to your IADR Artist's Studio page. The doll artists that participated in the Peoples' Choice Event will already be included in this event. Again, a great way to get your work out and be seen.
Also, the 2024 YEAR END EVENT is now open.
Deadline for entry is December 31st, 2024, with winners being announced in January 2025. Judging categories are Best Artist of the Year, Best Doll of the Year, Rising Star of the Year, and Master Of Year 2024. Artists will submit three (3) dolls with at least one (1) of the dolls being submitted having been in one of the prior IADR events of this year (which the Peoples' Choice Event can be one of them). There will be an award for each category when meeting the competition requirement.
Another way to be seen is also to have one of your dolls on the IADR website. So, if you don't have a doll image submitted yet, please do so. If you already have a doll image on the website, this is also your opportunity to update it to a newer creation as well. Come strut your stuff by showcasing your work by having it on a page on the IADR website, being in the Artist's Studio page, on the Doll Sales page, or by entering a jury show. Remember, it is all about being seen (either to inspire others or to find those wanting and admiring your works) and if you have any questions please email me at iadregistry@outlook.com or Facebook Instant Messenger.

We have certainly been getting out there and seen too! We had over 1300 unique views to the website during our Peoples' Choice event and over 3500 page views. That is a tremendous job and Well Done to everyone who made it happen!
After all, if you aren't seen, then those are missed opportunities for sales. The winner of the Peoples' Choice event will be announced soon.

But that isn't all that we are doing to be seen. The Do What You Love jury show video is now up on our YouTube channel. Check it out as this was a wonderful selection of artists sharing what they love to do best - making art through their dolls. You can view it at:

And there is still more... While Bambi and I were talking on the IADR podcast about our favorite subject - dolls, Bambi shared her unique way of taking Stop Motion Action to create a new venue for marketing her dolls and other art mediums she plays with. Find out how she came up with this idea and what it has inspired her to do for the 2025 Italian IADR Art Doll convention. The podcast is on our YouTube Channel at:

Because we are getting out there, people are learning about us. So, let's give a warm welcome our new members to the IADR. Welcome to Maria D'Anna, designer at Scampoletta in Italy and Anna Esposito, Feltmaker/artist of NearteNeparte in Italy.
As we continue to be seen - mark the November IADR Doll Sales on your calendar. Those that participated in the Peoples' Choice event will already be on the page for this event. Anyone that would like to be added to the page just let me know through Instant Messenger on Facebook or email me at iadregistry@outlook.com.
With the new members we have added, I thought now would be a good time to freshen up the website as well. So, if you already have a doll image on the website and would like to change to a newer piece let me know. Otherwise, if you don't have an image somewhere throughout the website and would like to have a picture on it, again let me know.

What a great turnout for the Peoples' Choice Event. We have had over 2000 views just this past week with an 176% increase in unique visits. That means a large increase of people coming to the website to see your work that have never visited before. That is fantastic!
But we aren't over yet. Deadline is Oct 11th, so there is still time to get the word out to everyone you know to add those votes to see who will be the Winner of the 2024 Peoples' Choice.
Also thought to share a comment received from a voter, "I have to say, all the entrees were amazing. Kudos to all!" I totally have to agree with her.
As we wind down to finding who will be on the cover of our Special Edition magazine, there is another deadline. For those doing workshops for the 2025 IADR Art Doll Convention you should have received your mock up for the magazine. Please confirm that the information is correct as the deadline for changes to the Workshops for the Special Edition is Wednesday, October 9th, 2024.
