I know you are in the midst of finishing up your characters for submission for the Do What You Love Juried Event and now here I am mentioning the Peoples' Choice Event.
The reason why is because of the Special Edition of the IADR Art Doll Magazine we will be doing in October for the 2024 IADR Conference.
The Winner in the Peoples' Choice event receives the honor of being on the banner announcing the November Sales in the IADR event as well as any advertising we do for the sales event.
But my marketing mind couldn't pass up an opportunity for even bigger exposure for the lucky winner - by being on the cover for our October Special Edition of our magazine.

But my marketing mind couldn't pass up an opportunity for even bigger exposure for the lucky winner - by being on the cover for our October Special Edition of our magazine.
Here is a what the Peoples' Choice Event is about:
What to Submit?: There is a theme for those that want to create something new for this event which is "Let's Razzle Dazzle". For those that want to participate but not be limited to the theme, then your art needs to be created sometime between October 2023 to October 2024 to be acceptable. Since the judging is being done by "the people" the theme is not required to be included in this event.
How to Submit?: There is a Peoples' Choice Event Submission form that is available once you sign into the IADR website as this competition is open to IADR members only you will find the submission form. This is a simplified form as only one picture is required and no explanation of your submission is required. Because your submission will also be linked to your Artist's Studio page, you may want to have that updated with any images of your work and links to your social platforms for viewing by the public-- if you wish to take advantage of the traffic to our website.
Last year the traffic to our website was over 1,650 visits in 8 days!
Visitors that went directly to our People's Choice voting page were over 1,050 visits. The people actually voting reached over 800 votes. Amazing and great job everyone!
But another cool statistic is everyone who participated in this event with their character and Artist's Page has had their individual page looked at 250% times more than before the event started. It averages out that each Artist's Studio page for those who entered had at least 35 visits.
How does this Event work?: The submission deadline is September 27th, 2024. The Event will go live September 30th ending on October 11th, 2024. All IADR members will receive the link to the voting page on our website September 30, 2024. At that point, it will be up to you on how you want to share that link. That link is how people will find the page so they can vote. So yes, to get the word out I'll be posting this on my personal page, my group page, and my business page inviting my friends, relatives, and those that follow me to come vote. Will you be doing the same???
What do you win?: This event offers a marketing prize instead of a cash prize. The first place winner will be on the banner for the Sale Event that is in November. PLUS - Be on the Cover and be featured in the Special Edition of the IADR Art Doll magazine that will be coming out in October for the 2025 IADR Convention. Second and Third place winners will be placed on our Facebook banners and also mentioned in the Art Doll magazine. Don't forget that the increase in traffic to the website can create offers of a possible sale or commission from the foot traffic from the public as well.
Who can participate?: All IADR members that are current with dues and wish to participate including judges as well as past winners and masters are invited. This is your time to play! This is limited to only IADR members because of the link to the Artist's Page and our website.
This is also the last chance! This is the last juried event that is available to participate in if one wants to be considered for the Big Cash awards that are in the Year End Event. The Year End Event requires at least participation in one of the three prior events this year which this is one of those three. So if you haven't participated yet but want to be thinking about the Year End... then jump on board here with this event and submit your entry.
If you have any other questions, don't hesitate to contact me either with a private message through Instant Messenger on Facebook or with an email at: IADRegistry@outlook.com

We are in the final stages of pulling the next IADR Art Doll magazine together. I would like to take a moment to thank those doll artists that have helped to make this next edition a great one. It always amazes me the wonderful talented members we have in IADR. Though, do you ever wonder "How do you get in to the magazine"? One of the easiest ways to get into an edition is through the Facebook collage.
And the way to do that is when you post your art work or even if you are posting about your latest work in progress - tag me in your post so I don't miss it. This way I also know that I have permission to use it in the magazine.
As I said, the easiest thing to do and let people know what fun and hard work you are up too and we here at the IADR love to promote our dollmakers. So just remember, tag me if you like to be included in this free opportunity for IADR members.
The countdown also continues as there are 14 days left to the submission deadline for the 'Do What You Love' juried show. Remember also when submitting entries, that you have not been confirmed into the show until you receive a conformation email back from me on your entry.
As always, if you have any questions, please contact me (Lesley) at IADRegistry@outlook.com.

Do you make to-do lists? I often have mine running in my head, but yes, I do like the feeling of checking things off when I have completed them.
With getting back from my vacation, now is the time to look at my to-do list and see what I need to update or add if I have missed anything. Here is the IADR list of upcoming events, do you have them on your calendar?
Wednesday, Aug 28th, 2024 - The IADR Italy Convention Zoom Planning Committee Meeting at 8:00 am MST/ 4:00 pm in Italy. Having just hopped over to Italy, this will be an important meeting to hopefully finalize our convention plans. If you can't make the meeting, don't worry about it as the meeting will be taped for later viewing. If you can't attend the meeting, please email to IADRegistry@outlook.com with your ideas and suggestions. Any input is always appreciated.
Then we are jumping into September - yep, before you know it, it will be here. Tuesday, Sept 10th, 2024 is our Shylock Doll Gathering. This month we have challenged ourselves with making a pouty face. Can't wait to see everyone's pieces as the head is all one needs to work on.
Monday, Sept 16th, 2024 is the Do What You Love Juried Show Deadline. This is a wonderful show to enter as you can showcase something you love to do or if you have been inspired by seeing the love in someone else as they are doing what they love. This juried show and the Peoples' Choice events are the final events to enter in order to be eligible to enter the Year End Awards.
So please mark your calendars! My email address is IADRegistry@outlook.com if you have any questions.

As the saying goes... 'What happens in Las Vegas, stays in Las Vegas'. Well, in our case Bambi was more than willing to share some helpful tips about visiting Italy from her recent trip.
I will admit I hadn't thought about butter until Bambi mentioned it from her food exploration of Tuscany, Italy.
Drop on over to our Youtube channel to hear about the wonderful time Bambi had in Italy. With our upcoming doll conference being held in Florence in 2025, Bambi makes visiting Italy sound eazy pezzy.
Also, our current jury show "Do What You Love" is now open with the deadline for your submission being September 16th, 2024. What better way to share your love of dollmaking than being inspired to "Do What You Love" and sharing it with us through the Juried Show?

The 2024 Juried Show Dragon Tales, Faery Tales and Heroes applicant submissions are now available to be viewed on our YouTube channel. Don't miss out on seeing the works of our New Artist to our Master submissions as they are a great source of inspiration.
We had a wonderful turnout for this 2024 Juried Show and here is hoping the next one coming up which is the 'Do What You Love' Fall Juried Show will turn out as well. The 'Do What You Love' Juried Show starts July 22, 2024, with a submission deadline being September 16, 2024.
The 'Do What You Love' theme means just that - as an artists doing what you love. If it is dollmaking or sculpting - those would qualify. If you see a young girl skipping along the sidewalk with a big smile on her lips --- doing what she loves - let that inspire you. Whatever touches your heart and brings you joy. Allow that to inspire you and challenge you to create a special and unique submission for this entry.
If you have any questions about the theme or about the juried show don't hesitate to contact Lesley at IADRegistry@outlook.com. Also, keep in mind that to be eligible to compete in the 2024 Year End Juried Event, you must have competed in a previous juried show during the year.

What a busy last couple of days! The results are in from our Dragon Tales, Faery Tales and Heroes Juried Show. It was a fantastic turnout. I thank the judges that took their time to critique and evaluate the entries as that is an important part of the show. Those comments are priceless in helping us see our own work from another perspective and learn in our doll journey. You can see the winners of the event on our Awards page on our IADR website.
Also you can see all the entries showcased in the IADR Art Doll magazine that is now available. Every entry is appreciated as this is one of the easiest ways to show your support for the IADR and also help the IADR to continue to grow. Besides the Juried Show entries, we have some great articles in the magazine such as the IADR Featured Artist and many others that are inspiring to read. The magazine is free to IADR members and we are now offering it in Italian too. Click here to see the latest issue.
Finally, on our YouTube channel is the video of all the 2024 Summer Juried Show entries. This allows you to see even more of the creative process behind the art dolls submitted. Enjoy as the entries will melt your heart and hopefully inspire and take you to a place where art makes the world a little better for allowing us a peek into the artist's soul.

Those dog days of summer usually refer to those hot and sultry days when it's difficult to get work done or when sales drop. The phrase also has celestial origins, as it refers to the time between July 3 and August 11 when the Dog Star, Sirius, rises near the same time as the sun in the Northern Hemisphere. The Romans called this period "days of the dog star", which eventually became "dog days".
But here at IADR we are anything but stagnant or finding it difficult to work as we have several things going on in just the month of July. Here are a few of the things that should be on your calendar.
July 15th, Monday, the summer issue of the IADR Art Doll magazine should be released if all things go well. We should also hopefully know the results of our Dragon tales, Faery tales and Heroes juried show results. Again, if all goes well without any summer time glitches.
July 17th, Wednesday, will be the next IADR Planning Committee for the Italy Convention coming in 2025. It will be an 8:00 am MST meeting via Zoom. This is for anyone that wants to help shape how our convention will be no matter where you live. You don't even have to be planning on attending to still have some input because hopefully this will become an annual event and who knows after the Italy event where the next one will be. Email IADRegistry@outlook.com if you would like to be sent an invite.
July 22nd, Monday, the new Fall Juried Show begins with the theme DO WHAT YOU LOVE! The deadline for this event will be September 30th, 2024, followed closely by the Peoples Choice Event.
July 30th, Tuesday, is our next Shylock Doll Gathering at it's new time of 12:30 pm MST. We currently have challenged ourself to share and explore the book of Facial Expression by Gary Faigin. We are beginning with our first head being the expression of Joy. If you like to join in this live zoom meeting please email me at IADRegistry@outlook.com for the zoom link and also the sketch image we are using for inspiration.
So dog-gone-it! Why not come join us dollmakers for a little R & R (rest and relaxation)? For what can be more fun than hanging out talking or making dolls with other dollmakers *smiling*?

We're in that betwixt and between stage where we have just finished one project, The Dragon tales, Faery tales and Heroes Juried Show competition and waiting to move into another stage.
For those that entered this juried show for the first time... Well Done! We should try something new like this from time to time and not be afraid to challenge ourselves. I thought I would let you know that it will take roughly two weeks before there is an announcement of winners. Again, that betwixt and between waiting stage when we are floating in the mist trying to decide what to do next. *smiling*
A big thank you to everyone that enter our juried shows as this is one of the best ways to support our group. When we can offer opportunities (like the juried shows), then it offers the chance for not only our jury show attendance to grow but the IADR to grow as well. When people ask how can I help support the IADR, this is just one of the many ways.
So, in between this stage and next, is our Italy IADR Art Doll & Miniature show Planning Committee meeting --let me know if you would like to be a part of the planning process (no matter where you live). This way I can add you to the group chat and zoom notification. Our next meeting is Wednesday, July 17th, 2024 at 8:00 am MST. Contact me either with Instant Messenger on Facebook or email me at IADRegistry@outlook.com.
We do have a lot of things happening over the next couple of months, so please keep "in the know" by reading the blogs and your emails. At this time I would also like to welcome Simone Natasi as our newest member to the IADR. She is from Milan, Italy.

The Summer Juried Show deadline is almost here. Friday, June 28th at 10 pm MST to be exact. Also, don't forget to get your registration for your character in soon so you have the registration number for your show entry form.
As mentioned, we have reworked the doll registration and juried show submission forms. The sad part is that there isn't anyway at this point for me to show the "computer is working" when it is uploading your pictures.
The best solution is getting your pictures uploaded then clicking the SUBMIT button at the bottom of the form --- this is when you want to get a cup of your favorite brew whether it is coffee, tea, or something stronger and then come back to the computer. By this time your pictures should have been sent and you should see a message on the screen saying that your submission has been sent.
Since the website can take all sizes of pictures - that is not the problem. It just means the bigger (file size) the picture is the longer it takes for the photo to be sent after hitting the submit button. Each time you click the submit button, it tries to send it all over again to the IADR website. Once the submit button is clicked, take a few minutes to give it time to process. If after 5 minutes from clicking the button, if you still don't have the message that your form has been submitted on the screen, then it's time to contact us at IADRegistry@outlook.com.
Also, why you are on the website, take a moment to fill in the Poll for the IADR Doll & Miniature Conference to be held in May 2025. All answers are helpful in planning this first ever event.

Yes, there are a lot of activities happening in the International Art Doll Registry... so now is your chance to Step Up and get involved! It is what makes our group so much fun to be a part of as well as helping it to keep growing. Let's first start off with a POLL. This is to help us get more information and commitments for our May 2025 IADR Convention in Florence, Italy.
Click this link to be taken to the IADR Convention Polling . You'll notice that there is an option to read it in Italian as well in the upper right hand corner of the page. Everyone - Please take a moment to give us some of your thoughts. Even if you don't see yourself going this time around, help us shape this event for future ones. If you are planning on attending then help us to make this event the bang-up over-the-top event of the year with your ideas, comments, and commitments.
And now for our second major event - the our Dragon tales, Faery tales and Heroes Juried Show. The Deadline is just days away - June 28th, 2024, Friday at 10 pm MST. Remember, as a member of IADR to get your pieces in to Registration first so you have the information needed for the Juried Show entry form.
If you are a non-member, get your entry fee processed so you have your invoice number available for your submission form.
We have had a few glitches in the registration and jury show entry forms, but hopefully they are fixed now. But, it is very important when submitting your pieces for the show that you receive the notification from me that I have received it to confirm your entry. Your entry isn't accepted in to the show unless you have that final check off of receiving an email confirmation from IADR.
If you have any questions regarding the polling or the juried show, please contact Lesley at IADRegistry@outlook.com.

What is so special about May 2025? We here at the International Art Doll Registry are making plans for our FIRST EVER Art Doll Convention.
Why do a Doll Convention? Doll Conventions have a way of giving new opportunities to learn something new and exciting! Whether it is something new to add to our doll making skills or the opportunity to make new doll friends. Plus, the opportunity to see the artdolls in real time is amazing and the chance to talk to the artists that have created these beautiful pieces is a thrill as well. Plus we are hoping to have guest speakers too.
The first thing that had to be decided was where to have the conference. The doll ladies in Italy are excited to host our first event. We are only in the very beginning stages of planning, but have narrowed down to location which will be in Florence, Italy. We are currently attempting to confirm the dates for some time in May 2025.
But there is so much more that needs to be done and we certainly want to give everyone a chance to be thinking about this opportunity. Three things will be planned for the conference. (1) We would like to be able to offer some workshops; (2) There will be a juried doll show which would include physical trophies and ribbons to receive; and finally (3) The opportunity for doll sales.
As I said, this is all in the beginning planning stages and more information will be coming out as we make final decisions. Now is the time to be dusting off that passport and making sure it is up-to-date to attend! If you would like to be involved with this FIRST-EVER event, please email Lesley at IADRegistry@outlook.com or you can contact her through Instant Messenger on Facebook.
Also a warm welcome to Kathryn Arms, an artdoll artist from Ohio, USA, as new addition to the International Art Doll Registry.

As we are working on our pieces to submit for the Dragon Tales, Faery Tale, and Heroes juried show, I thought we might like some new updated Certificates of Authenticity.
As a member of IADR, a part of the process prior to submitting your dolls for the juried show is registering your dolls with IADR before you submit the doll for judging.
Keep in mind, non-members may also submit an entry for the IADR juried shows but they need to submit the invoice number of their paid entry fee. As a member, your entry is free - a part of your IADR membership.

This might be a link often over looked as you are completing the Registration form. It is right in the middle of the Registering page (after the section explaining "what dolls we do not accept") for a show. See where it says "NOTE"- These certificates are available FREE to all IADR members. They are for your use to give out to your customers with your creations. The certificate indicates the date and IADR number that is associated with your doll certifying the doll's authenticity. These certificates can be used with any doll that is registered with the IADR, whether you are submitting it for a juried show or not.
There are five (5) new forms and they are in jpg format. That way, if you want to download them and put your picture of the doll in the form, it should be easier to do. Enjoy, and as always, if you have any questions please email me at IADRegistry@outlook.com.
