On May 15-17, 2025, the International Art Doll Registry (IADR) is having their “Shine the Light’ convention at the Hotel Albani Firenze in Florence, Italy. The convention will include a juried doll competition, several workshops presented by international artists, a banquet dinner with presentation by the guest speaker Mark Dennis, and two days of open-to-the-public sales tables.
“Shine the Light’ is this year’s theme as during the 14th to 16th century, Florence was a ‘shining light’ to the world with residents like Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, Dante, Machiavelli, Amerigo Vespucci, and Galileo.
For Da Vinci, the essential concern was the long quest for truth while Michelangelo was dogged all of his life by the meaning of art itself. Both brought the light of inspiration and creativity to Florence making Florence a beacon for truth seekers. It is this quest for enlightenment and discovery through art that makes us seekers --- it requires us to discover ways to keep the flame of creativity alive. It is by ‘shining the light’ within and through the creation of art for others to experience, that all are illuminated.
Join us May 2025 in Florence by being a member of those ‘Shining The Light’ that others may see the creative sparks that we make so they may be inspired & illuminated!
