You still have time before the Deadline of August 14th, 2026 for the Marine Characters Online Juried Show... but that will also be wrapping up soon.
Keep in mind that the Deadline means no entry will be accepted after 10 pm MST on August 14th. Also to make sure that I received your entry, check to see if you have received an email or instant messenger acknowledging your entry submission from me.
If you think you will be close but still can make the deadline, give me a heads-up (short message) so that I will be looking for your entry.
Looking down the road, what comes next? Why it will be the People's Choice Event.
This is where people will be encouraged to come vote for their favorite submission. Very often when they go to see the entries, they will also go to the Artist's Studio page to see other creations.
For 2025 we had over 600 votes casted for this event with a 262% increase in page views to our website and 1206 unique views. That was a wonderful job and looking forward to a bigger reach this year. More about this event will be coming out in future blogs.

Here are some tips and helpful information that is worth knowing for the IADR Juried Shows.
🎉The IADR offers two online Juried Shows as well as the 'in person' Doll Exhibit/Show in Florence, Italy.
The online juried shows are a great way to have your work criticed if you are looking for ways to improve your art. The Juried Shows also offer cash awards. Did you know that winning just one juried show in a category during the year is equal or more than what an IADR member pays for their annual membership?
And talking of more... a requirement to participate in the YEAR END event is that a participant has to have been in at least one juried show - OR - if you have missed out on the Juried Shows, then the last event that qualifies you to enter the YEAR END event is the People's Choice event. And yes, you do have to be a member of the IADR to participate in the YEAR END competition. More about the People's Choice and YEAR END events coming in future posts.
🎉IADR Members enter the IADR Juried Shows for Free. Also remember the entry must be registered as a one-of-a-kind through submitting the Doll Registry Submission form. That Registry number is required on the Juried Show submission. Non-IADR members can participate by paying an entry fee. Their entry fee receipt is the number they use when submitting for the show.
🎉The AAE (ART DOLLS Magazine Award of Excellence) is NOT a juried show of the IADR. It is an independent show of the ART DOLLS Magazine and requires a different submission and fee.
🎉Vote for the 2027 Themes for the Juried Show. Yes, we are already at work on the 2027 Juried Shows. Our August 2026 Marine Characters Show Deadline is August 14th. Meaning between now and August 14th, get your entry finished, registered, and your entry submission completed no later than 10 pm MST on August 14th.
But 2027 will be here sooner than we know it and now is your time to put in your choice of what you would like to see for our Juried Show.

👓Looking at the Poll for the themes, for the January (Winter) event, do we keep the Winter Blue theme? Or, would you like something different? If you want to keep the Winter Blue theme, then mark it so in the poll or pick the theme you like best for the first Juried Show of 2027.
May's 2027 Doll Exhibit/Show's theme at the convention will be Witches, Wizards, & Trolls.
Let me know your selection for the August's 2027 theme, please. This is your way to give shape to the Juried Shows for 2027. VOTE here!

Have you checked out the Tutorial section of the IADR website that is available to IADR members only?
This section is a great resource and inspiration for those that look to expand their skills or try out a new techique. But this Tutorial section is more than just that!
The Tutorial section is a fantastic way to cross-market your project. People always are looking to see how something is made and this is a wonderful way to let people see your processes.
Did you know that when you do a tutorial - (a How To type of one), it can be placed on the IADR website with links back to your Etsy store, website, or even your Facebook page. This is just one (1) way it brings traffic to you.
(2) You can also put a image of your tutorial on your Artist's Studio page with again adding links. With the People's Choice event coming up in the Fall, it is another way to add to your page.
(3) Submit your tutorial to the ART DOLLS Magazine and reach a new audience. Links are again added to your tutorial right there in the magazine itself!
(4) Work with Lesley to create a Short or video of your tutorial and it can be shared on the IADR YouTube Channel. Which also can be collaborated to the ART DOLLS Magazine YouTube channel as well.
(5) You can also choose be listed on the ART DOLLS Magazine website through the Directory. For a $45.00 USD fee you can be listed in the Directory under Classes and Instructors with your tutorial reference. This places the tutorial on the unique ART DOLLS Magazine website and in the Special Edition of the magazine coming up towards the end of the 2026 year. Choose now to be added to the 2027 Directory and for this small fee that gives you almost a year and half of advertising.
This is one of those Win/Win situations!!! So many ways to be seen with just one shared tutorial to the IADR. If you have any questions, email IADRegistry@outlook.com.
