As the saying goes... 'What happens in Las Vegas, stays in Las Vegas'. Well, in our case Bambi was more than willing to share some helpful tips about visiting Italy from her recent trip.
I will admit I hadn't thought about butter until Bambi mentioned it from her food exploration of Tuscany, Italy.
Drop on over to our Youtube channel to hear about the wonderful time Bambi had in Italy. With our upcoming doll conference being held in Florence in 2025, Bambi makes visiting Italy sound eazy pezzy.
Also, our current jury show "Do What You Love" is now open with the deadline for your submission being September 16th, 2024. What better way to share your love of dollmaking than being inspired to "Do What You Love" and sharing it with us through the Juried Show?

The 2024 Juried Show Dragon Tales, Faery Tales and Heroes applicant submissions are now available to be viewed on our YouTube channel. Don't miss out on seeing the works of our New Artist to our Master submissions as they are a great source of inspiration.
We had a wonderful turnout for this 2024 Juried Show and here is hoping the next one coming up which is the 'Do What You Love' Fall Juried Show will turn out as well. The 'Do What You Love' Juried Show starts July 22, 2024, with a submission deadline being September 16, 2024.
The 'Do What You Love' theme means just that - as an artists doing what you love. If it is dollmaking or sculpting - those would qualify. If you see a young girl skipping along the sidewalk with a big smile on her lips --- doing what she loves - let that inspire you. Whatever touches your heart and brings you joy. Allow that to inspire you and challenge you to create a special and unique submission for this entry.
If you have any questions about the theme or about the juried show don't hesitate to contact Lesley at IADRegistry@outlook.com. Also, keep in mind that to be eligible to compete in the 2024 Year End Juried Event, you must have competed in a previous juried show during the year.

What a busy last couple of days! The results are in from our Dragon Tales, Faery Tales and Heroes Juried Show. It was a fantastic turnout. I thank the judges that took their time to critique and evaluate the entries as that is an important part of the show. Those comments are priceless in helping us see our own work from another perspective and learn in our doll journey. You can see the winners of the event on our Awards page on our IADR website.
Also you can see all the entries showcased in the IADR Art Doll magazine that is now available. Every entry is appreciated as this is one of the easiest ways to show your support for the IADR and also help the IADR to continue to grow. Besides the Juried Show entries, we have some great articles in the magazine such as the IADR Featured Artist and many others that are inspiring to read. The magazine is free to IADR members and we are now offering it in Italian too. Click here to see the latest issue.
Finally, on our YouTube channel is the video of all the 2024 Summer Juried Show entries. This allows you to see even more of the creative process behind the art dolls submitted. Enjoy as the entries will melt your heart and hopefully inspire and take you to a place where art makes the world a little better for allowing us a peek into the artist's soul.

Those dog days of summer usually refer to those hot and sultry days when it's difficult to get work done or when sales drop. The phrase also has celestial origins, as it refers to the time between July 3 and August 11 when the Dog Star, Sirius, rises near the same time as the sun in the Northern Hemisphere. The Romans called this period "days of the dog star", which eventually became "dog days".
But here at IADR we are anything but stagnant or finding it difficult to work as we have several things going on in just the month of July. Here are a few of the things that should be on your calendar.
July 15th, Monday, the summer issue of the IADR Art Doll magazine should be released if all things go well. We should also hopefully know the results of our Dragon tales, Faery tales and Heroes juried show results. Again, if all goes well without any summer time glitches.
July 17th, Wednesday, will be the next IADR Planning Committee for the Italy Convention coming in 2025. It will be an 8:00 am MST meeting via Zoom. This is for anyone that wants to help shape how our convention will be no matter where you live. You don't even have to be planning on attending to still have some input because hopefully this will become an annual event and who knows after the Italy event where the next one will be. Email IADRegistry@outlook.com if you would like to be sent an invite.
July 22nd, Monday, the new Fall Juried Show begins with the theme DO WHAT YOU LOVE! The deadline for this event will be September 30th, 2024, followed closely by the Peoples Choice Event.
July 30th, Tuesday, is our next Shylock Doll Gathering at it's new time of 12:30 pm MST. We currently have challenged ourself to share and explore the book of Facial Expression by Gary Faigin. We are beginning with our first head being the expression of Joy. If you like to join in this live zoom meeting please email me at IADRegistry@outlook.com for the zoom link and also the sketch image we are using for inspiration.
So dog-gone-it! Why not come join us dollmakers for a little R & R (rest and relaxation)? For what can be more fun than hanging out talking or making dolls with other dollmakers *smiling*?

We're in that betwixt and between stage where we have just finished one project, The Dragon tales, Faery tales and Heroes Juried Show competition and waiting to move into another stage.
For those that entered this juried show for the first time... Well Done! We should try something new like this from time to time and not be afraid to challenge ourselves. I thought I would let you know that it will take roughly two weeks before there is an announcement of winners. Again, that betwixt and between waiting stage when we are floating in the mist trying to decide what to do next. *smiling*
A big thank you to everyone that enter our juried shows as this is one of the best ways to support our group. When we can offer opportunities (like the juried shows), then it offers the chance for not only our jury show attendance to grow but the IADR to grow as well. When people ask how can I help support the IADR, this is just one of the many ways.
So, in between this stage and next, is our Italy IADR Art Doll & Miniature show Planning Committee meeting --let me know if you would like to be a part of the planning process (no matter where you live). This way I can add you to the group chat and zoom notification. Our next meeting is Wednesday, July 17th, 2024 at 8:00 am MST. Contact me either with Instant Messenger on Facebook or email me at IADRegistry@outlook.com.
We do have a lot of things happening over the next couple of months, so please keep "in the know" by reading the blogs and your emails. At this time I would also like to welcome Simone Natasi as our newest member to the IADR. She is from Milan, Italy.
