While we are playing our Winter Blue game in Instagram to let people know about our juried show coming up, don't forget the deadline for entering the actual juried show!
The Deadline is March 7th, 2025 and this will be our first juried show that will have a category for clay sculptures and a separate category for fiber art forms.  Exciting isn't it!  I can't wait to see all the wonderful entries.
Also what makes this event unique is the opportunity for members of IADR and non-members to win a free year membership to the IADR.  Sounds like a win/win situation to me!
The Winter edition of our magazine is now out and it is packed with lots of exciting artistry and informative articles.  Don't forget to read the Bluesky social platform article in the magazine as it explains how easy it is to sign up for Bluesky and the IADR customized Feed.
As it was recently explained to me, Facebook and (Twitter)X are like old cable TV where you are tied to a tv box and only see what the cable company offers.  Bluesky is like Streaming TV where you can pick and choose from several streaming providers and make choices as to what you want to see and when.  Just like Streaming TV has almost killed cable TV, I think this new way that Bluesky has customized what information you want to see will also make a difference in social media.

Also, on Bluesky, I have created an IADR Custom Feed that I hope to grow with doll makers, doll artists, doll collectors, and doll buyers.  Just putting out that wish to the Universe *smiling*... consider adding it to your Feeds.

Now that we are in the New Year, you will be seeing (hopefully) more posts and videos regarding our IADR Art Doll Convention in May 2025.  It would be awesome to see you there, but if you can't make it, please keep in mind that it helps in supporting us by getting out the word by liking, commenting, or sharing those posts when you see them.

Let's work together to make this one a success so more IADR Conventions may follow!

The future of Tiktok is hanging out there as to whether or not it will be banned or sold here in the United States.  Either way it won't be the same as it was before... at least here in the United States.

And then Mark Zuckerberg (Meta/Facebook) fired his fact checkers and is also looking to replace his mid-level engineers with AI (Artificial Intelligence) in 2025 changes how Facebook and Instagram will operate.
There is the threat of AI increasing in 2025 in such a way that it will make it harder to be seen or even know what is real or not on these social platforms.  What is a doll artist to do?
Think ahead to the future.  That is partially what the International-Art-Doll-Registry (IADR) does -- especially for it's members.  Here are three ways that the IADR helps it's members be recognize as being "Real".
1.  When registering your dolls with the IADR before, it was protecting your doll's trademark and authenticity.  Now it additionally helps prove that you have created an actual doll and are able to produce it's own unique registration number with the IADR.  By doing so, validates that it is not an AI generated image when posting about your doll.
2.  By entering the IADR juried shows with your creations, you are again validating that you are a doll artist and your creations are "Real".  When social media says that by the end of 2025 we will be having a hard time telling the difference of an AI post and a real person, the juried shows take on a whole new meaning as to why be a part of them.  (And just a reminder - the Winter Blues juried show and Instagram Game are going on right now!)
3.  The IADR Art Doll Magazine is also going to be playing a part of validating the doll artist.  This is where the Doll Artist can share their work in progress, share their dolls, and be again recognized as being a real live human creating their art, not any AI generated images.  Any IADR member is always welcomed to share their art in our magazine.
These three ways are just the building blocks that create the foundation of the IADR Community.  Because, as a community, we help each other to learn, be supportive, and be seen as we go through these rapidly changing times right now.

Did you know we have an IADR YouTube Channel?  It's been slow to start as there is so much to learn about all these social medias that the IADR uses for promoting our members.  Though YouTube is going to be another good source to watch as social media will be changing more and more as artificial intelligence (AI) comes in.  AI will not only be selecting our searches but also creating more content for viewers to see.  This is one reason why the IADR plans to use this media platform more as it is a good resource for Artists.
Why a good resource you might ask?  I will be going into why use YouTube in more detail as I do my Marketing & Communication reports for our IADR members.  As soon as I finish up my research, I'll be sharing that information soon.  In the meantime, you can subscribe to the IADR channel to not miss any new videos as they are released.  To subscribe - click here: https://www.youtube.com/@iadr-internationalartdolls
In the meantime, check out our monthly Podcast as  Bambi & Lesley (with a sense of humor included) talk about what a small art business would need to survive a zombie apocalypse. There are changes coming in the future making it feel like an apocalypse is going to happen.  We discuss some of the ideas that help small business owners & doll artists still succeed in these times.
