To enter your art doll for the International Art Doll Registry (IADR) The Winter Blues juried show is quite simple.  This IADR event is now open to all members and Non-members --- No matter your medium.  This IADR juried event is open to all sculptors and makers of one-of-a-kind handmade sculpted art dolls.  Sculptured Artworks of all kinds are welcome in clay, paper-clay figurative sculpture, porcelain, polymer, or other like mediums.  Fiber Arts is a separate category from the other medium entries and will include all competition entries of wool/needlefelting and cloth dolls.  Each category will have five separate skill levels being Novice, Intermediate, Advance, Professional, and Master.  There will be an award opportunity for each level when meeting the competition requirement.

What makes this event different than the others is the Play the Game activity on Instagram and also the additional "gift" from Sponsors of the Event.  Please read the blog to learn more about these activities.
The Winter Blues Event Theme:
Submission is limited to one (1) doll.  It can be anything along the lines of Winter or Blue.  It can be as simple as a doll dressed in a blue outfit or in a winter theme.  It can also be about anything you do to beat the winter blues like singing or dancing.  The characters can be fantasy or human.  You are only limited by your imagination.
Dolls We Accept*:
  • One-of-a-Kind handmade dolls that are human
  • One-of-a-Kind handmade busts
  • Ball Jointed Dolls (BJDs)
  • Fantasy (fairies, mermaids, fantasy animals, etc.)
  • Fantasy animal Anthropomorphic dolls (animals acting as humans with human characteristics).  Anthropomorphic dolls would be dolls that are upright, presumed to be talking, dressed as humans, or acting as if human.
  • Any One-Of-A-Kind (OOAK) doll that is made from any material.
The requirements are:
  1. Each artist is allowed one entry per show.
  2. Entry is open to IADR members and Non-Members.  There is no fee for entry for IADR members.  Non-members have a special reduced entry fee of $10.00 for this one-of-kind juried event.  Non-members - please click here to make your payment.
  3. As an IADR member - Each doll must be registered at IADR Registry before entering the competition (the registry number is required on the form when entering) For Non-Members - the payment is required when submitting your entry (see entry form below).
  4. The doll has to be created not more than one year ago and a total of 7 photos are required: (1: a close up of the face, 2: the front full view, 3: the left side of the sculpture, 4: the right side of the sculpture, 5: the back of the sculpture, 6: a work in progress photo, and 7: a best view). The work in progress photo is the only one where a collage of more than one photo is permitted, and the best view photo is the main picture that will be displayed on the show page.  The photos don't have to be resized and can be entered in any size, as a jpg, jpeg, or png but the total of all 7 photos must be 20 MB or smaller.
How to determine the Artist's Skill Level for the IADR Juried Shows:
  • Novice:  An artist who has not won a major award in any previous competition
  • Intermediate:  An artist who has won the Novice level award in an IADR Juried Show or has won any major award in any other competitions
  • Advance:  An artist who has won the Intermediate level award in an IADR Juried Show or has won two or more major awards in any other competitions
  • Professional:  An artist who has won the Advance level award in an IADR Juried Show or an artist who teaches doll making and/or sells more than 6 dolls per year
  • Master:  A Master is an artist who has won the Professional level award in an IADR Juried Show or an artist who teaches doll making and/or sells more than 6 dolls per year.  Masters are for the level where their skill isn't judged as much as do they meet the theme.  As such, Masters can enter again even if they have won a previous MASTER award.
When entering, please use the form below:  The information required is the artist's full name, artist's studio (if applicable), the IADR registry number of your art doll, and/or payment.  Also a written interpretation of the juried theme with a few words of storytelling about your creation and how it meets the theme.
Preparing the photos of the doll:  The photos must be taken in front of a neutral background so there are no distractions from the doll and so that the public can see the doll properly.  Any excess should be cropped from the photos so the sculpting is the only focus.  No watermarks, studio names, or artist information can be placed on the photos.
