Qiqi
The doll Qiqi is inspired by the first Christmas tree I remember from my childhood. My mother took me to experience a foreign culture, and that moment became a seed in my heart — a seed that inspired my desire to explore the world.
The doll’s facial contours are inspired by my mother’s face, carrying memory and emotion within its form. The costume draws inspiration from the tree itself and is fully removable. It consists of three parts: a crinoline, an embroidered bodysuit inspired by the texture of tree bark, and an outer skirt.
She wears a Christmas tree–shaped hat, and her earrings are Christmas ornaments designed with my personal artistic style. The doll’s body is made from a combination of polymer clay and fabric, filled with wood shavings. The joints are movable, allowing it to pose in various positions. It is not just a doll, but a piece of childhood memory, maternal love, and a longing to explore the world.
