Oya
Oya is the Nigerian Storm Goddess who originated with the Yoruban tribe as a representation of the Niger river. If you feel the winds of change in your life, Oya may be responsible.
I have given her the honor of the second doll in the Goddesses 2024 Series, shown on the brass identification tag on her back waistband. Artist autograph appears on her arm. Oya stands on her own at 35"H x 20"W x 20"D with arms outstretched. Her facial features are embroidered on cotton, and her fancy hair is also embroidered. The blue print of her under dress represents the Niger river. The dramatic orange print shows her association with lightning and thunder.
Internal construction is primarily aluminum wire and softer fills. Exterior is cotton fabric. Hair is curly lock wool and cotton floss.
