2026 IADR Convention
On May 8-10, 2026, the International Art Doll Registry (IADR) is having their 'Myths and Legends' convention at the Hotel Albani Firenze in Florence, Italy. The convention will include a juried doll competition, several workshops presented by international artists, an Art and Aperitivo with the guest speaker Stephanie (Stevi) Tiongco, and two days of open-to-the-public exhibit/sales tables.
Perseonez (Persephone) was chosen by the artist Maria D’ Ann to represent this year’s convention theme. This is what she had to say about the process of her inspiration.

“I chose her because I am fascinated by the symbolism: the duality between the innocent girl, symbol of spring and rebirth, and the Queen of the Underworld.

She represents the cycle of life, death and rebirth that occurs every year, with the transition from winter (period spent underground) to spring (period spent with Demetra, her mother). And above all for the transformation that represents, from maiden to wise woman, therefore personal transformation through adversity.

Perhaps I feel I embody this phase, a transition that many women experience when they let go of carefree childhood towards adulthood.”
