It may be getting colder with the Winter winds blowing outside, but sure makes it easy to want to stay inside and play dolls!
December will be here sooner than we think, which is why I am asking you to think about becoming a Winter Blues Instagram sponsor.
What is a Winter Blue Sponsor? They are IADR members that come up with a Bonus Gift for those that are playing the Winter Blue game.
Each week a different Sponsor is featured with their gift being awarded at the end of the week.  It is a good way to attract new followers to a sponsor's page.
The gifts are digital, so that we don't need to worry about shipping or someone not receiving their gift.  Some suggestions for gifts are: helpful tips in dollmaking, a short tutorial, or a small project that might not even be doll related but would be fun to do.
The Winter Blue Game is a great way to start the creative fun and awareness to our first juried show of the year which is the Winter Blues juried show.  Sign up now to be a Sponsor by emailing me at [email protected].  Deadline for sign-up is December 29th, 2025.
Submissions for the Year End Event is now also available.  This submission is different than other juried shows as this is about your accumulated work throughout the year.  You submit images of three pieces of work.  Deadline for submission is December 31st, 2025.
Also, registration for the 2026 IADR Art Doll Convention in Florence, Italy is now open.  Between now and January 15th is the Advance Early Bird discounted rate.  After January 15th, the price goes up.  For more information don't forget to check out the Special Edition IADR Art Doll Magazine or go to the convention registration page to register now.

It's that time of year when we start making and checking our lists, whether it's a Christmas list or a to-do list.  Here is your IADR Check list...
Have you checked out the requirements for the Year End Juried Show?  Remember, you must have participated in at least one juried show this year or participated in the People's Choice event.  Also the Year End event is for IADR members only.
Have you downloaded the Special 2026 Convention Issue of the IADR Art Doll Magazine?  This issue is free so please let others know about it.

Now is when I will be starting the January 2026 issue.  Deadline for submitting articles or tutorials will be December 15th, 2025, because of the holidays.  Don't forget this is a great way to introduce new dolls or share works in progress through the Do What You Love pages or the Facebook Collage.
Also put on your check list that January will be starting our Winter Blues event.   I'll be looking for sponsors for the Instagram game which we play leading up to the start of the Winter Blues juried show.
Also, just wire transferred the funds to pay for the MIDA Fair IADR booth.  Check out the Special Edition Art Doll Magazine about this special event the IADR is also being a part of this year.  The MIDA Fair is an unique opportunity to be exhibiting/selling your dolls.  IADR paid now to take advantage of the lower cost for the booth space they offer.
Are you also taking advantage of the lower costs for signing up early for the 2026 IADR Art Doll Convention in Italy?
The registration for attending and wanting an exhibit/sales table or signing up for offering a workshop is now on the website.  The lowest fee for attending is NOW until January 15th.  After that the price goes up as we get closer to the May 8th starting date of the IADR Convention.
If you have any questions about any of these events, email me at [email protected].

Unlocking the benefits...

Do you wonder where your International Art Doll Registry (IADR) member dues go?  Let me walk you through what your paid membership unlocks.
First and foremost, the dues go towards paying the cash awards from the juried shows.  Evaluating (when I began operating the shows), how they were at that time only on-line. It was extremely costly to have a physical award and ship it with the postage costs.  Especially if shipping the award over seas, trying to guarantee it's safe arrival, and passing customs without additional costs to the winner.  And now with shipping costs going up even more, paying a cash reward is still a more practical choice.
Following that up with our IADR Art Doll Convention -- a part of the membership dues does help pay for the physical awards presented there as well.
This way we have the fun of having a physical award if one plans to attend the conventions, but it makes it just as fun to receive cash from our on-line event to be able to spend it back on our dolls - right? *smiling*.
Next, part of the membership dues goes for licenses and software for maintaining and operating the website.  Which hopefully this site makes it much easier to see an artist's work and easier to navigate.  One perk of this software that it is user friendly, enough that even I can manage it.  It is one reason why we can make additions to it with your Artist's Studio page and Registration information.  Overall, I feel this is a good investment.  Though I am still trying to get the submit button to work better but that technology is a work in progress.  If you like to see any changes in the website please don't hesitate to let me know - we are always working to improve it!
Your membership fee also goes for computer apps like Youtube, Canva, Zoom, and the Internet which covers us on Instagram, Facebook, and Bluesky. These apps allow us to create the magazine.  It is because your membership fee going towards these costs that the magazine stays free to IADR members.
No one receives a wage for what we do at IADR.  It is one reason why we appreciate Adelaide Santini's offer that helps us with the magazine's Italian translation.  Also, when members offer to help by submitting articles, tutorials, interviews, and even showcasing their dolls, that makes the IADR community stronger.

What is down the road?  The Art Doll Convention helps growth, physical awareness, and the opportunity to build a stronger doll artist community.  The on-line shows offer free advertising for our creations as well as helpful learning input.  The IADR Magazine and Artist's Studio pages offer free advertising to you, our IADR members.  My goal is to reach out even more on Youtube and Bluesky.  Bluesky is helping us reach more of the AI free connections.  Youtube is a more stable market for growth and reach - especially if we can work out a way to show more of your work in short videos besides just the juried shows.  That's a future goal!  If you have any questions about any of the things I have mentioned here, please email me at [email protected].

What Are You Doing???

Starting today have you been thinking of what you are going to be doing for the 2025 IADR Year End Event?
The IADR Final Juried Show for the year is a little different than the other shows thoughout the year.  This year will be the first time that the categories will  be offered in both Sculptured Art and Fiber Art.  What does this mean?
It means that in Sculptured Art there will be three (3) areas to compete.  First, there is the Best Doll of the Year.  Then there is the Best Artist of the Year.  Finally, the Rising Star of the Year which is to encourage new artist and reflect how they have grown throughout the year in their art.
Those competition areas will also be offered in Fiber Arts. Meaning there will also be three (3) areas to compete - the Best Doll of the Year. the Best Artist of the Year and finally the Rising Star of the Year.
The requirements to be able to participate is that the Artists must be an IADR member who has participated in at least one of the 2025 IADR juried show events.  Each artist will submit three (3) dolls with at least one (1) of the dolls being submitted having been in one of the prior IADR juried events of this year (this can include People's Choice Event).  There will be an award opportunity for each category in each area for a total of 6 winners when meeting the competition requirement.

The reason why I know there will be six winners is that all participants can enter for Best Doll of the Year and Best Artist of the Year.  BUT, if the Artist wins the Best Doll of the Year, they will not be considered for the Best Artist of the Year as no member can win more than one area of competition in their category.  Also, if one has won a Rising Star of the Year award in past years, they cannot enter again as this area of the competition is to encourage new upcoming artists.

To see the full entry requirements and to register to compete in the Year End Event - click here!
Deadline to enter is December 31st, 2025 with the results announced in the January 2026 issue of the IADR Art Doll Magazine.  If you have any questions, please email me at [email protected].
