Create, Collaborate, Grow...

There has been some new members and to be honest, it doesn't hurt to remind old members just some of the ways you can Create, Collaborate, and Grow with the International Art Doll Registry.  So here are just a few tips.
1.  This organiztion is a fabulous group of artists.  It is fun to get to meet and know each other whether it is through our Zoom Shylock Doll Group or attending a convention together (and I mean not just ours *smiling*).  When we make friends, that makes sharing and commenting on each others posts supportive as well as rewarding.
2.  Talking about Facebook and Instagram - In Facebook, make sure you tag me in your posts so that as the IADR I can boost your posts whether it is commenting, liking, and even a share.
On Instagram make sure you use the hashtag #iadollregistry. That way I can find you and share your posts.  Then really reach out and invite the IADR to collaborate with your post or reel.  That way you also appear on the IADR Instagram page as well as your own... and the reach is fabulous!
3. Your Artist's Studio page is where you can create and show your work on your Artist's Studio page... even works-in-progress.  This is your gallery and also where you can link your page to your other selling sites.  The Artist's Studio page is used for the People's Choice Event which comes up later this year.  It was great to also use QR codes that linked your page at our last convention and the MIDA event.  It has been proven by statistics that when someone comes to an Artist's Studio page, they don't look at just one artist's work but several.
4. Juried Shows are fun and can be a good learning curve.  But don't stop just there!  For the Online Shows all entries are shown in the ART DOLLS Magazine.  One may not win their category but to be seen competing is still priceless.  All exposure is good when it is showcasing your work
5. ART DOLLS Magazine has increased our exposure and reach through the ART DOLLS Magazine and the ART DOLLS Magazine Facebook page.  Plus don't forget our YouTube reach also.  Enter your new doll in the Doll Scene section of the Magazine.  Write an article about an experience at a doll show (again it doesn't have to just be the IADR's).  Show us how you create or offer a tutorial.  Those are all free advertising opportunities for a doll artist to use.  If you have an idea but not sure how to start it, just email Lesley at [email protected].  We'll make it happen!

The IADR Marine Characters Juried Show
for
August 2026
Yes, we may have just wrapped up the May's Myths and Legends show and now it is time to mark your calendar for our next juried show.  Since this is an extra online show, I wanted to point it out as submission for it doesn't start until June 15th, but with summer activities, it is never too soon to be thinking about it.
Award of Excellence Event
The Award of Excellence is now open for submissions. This Juried Show is NOT an IADR Show.  This event is sponsored by the ART DOLLS Magazine and will continue in the same similar manner as it has in the past.
Something new is the category of one-of-a-kind Fiber Arts in the competition.
For a list of the rules for the Award of Excellence (AAE) and submission form click the link.

World Doll Day
The ART DOLLS Magazine is also celebrating World Doll Day (June 13, 2026), by having a favorite doll from your collection or a OOAK (one-of-a-kind) doll that you may have made.  This is also a great opportunity to be seen on the ART DOLLS Magazine website.
It's FREE and a wonderful way to celebrate this unique day.  The way to submit your doll is by using the form here.
Look for the Red Highlighted information in the Free Submission form area.

Showing Stevi T Florence, Italy in the rain.
What a fantastic event this year's convention was here in Florence, Italy.  Stevie T (Stephanie Tiongco) as our Guest Speaker was great.  Especially loved the laughter and the ooohhs as we saw the sheared lamas in her presentation.
The contributions of Patrizia Cozzo's doll "On a Wire" and Stevi's "Small Bunny" were appreciated greatly by the IADR and the receivers of these gifts, Maria D'Anna and Angela Rinaldi.
The Art and Aperitivo evening was full of excitement, great food, and even some loving "intervention" by some creative doll artists.  You know who I am talking about don't you, Anna Esposito, Maria D'Anna, and Adelaide Santini. *smiling*
Also, Congratulations to our Winners of the Myths and Legends Juried Show: Yindie Yang, Adelaide Santini, Natalie Ruis, and Loredana Salvo in the Sculpted Category and Anna Esposito & Stevie T in the Fiber Art Category.  You can see their impressive artwork on the Winner's Award page on our website here.
With this in mind, I created a special 2026 Convention Highlight page where we posted pictures of our fun event. Also check out the unique talent of Anna Esposito who created some insightful interviews for Instagram and our webpage.  Click here to view and remember to mark your calendar for Florence, on Italy May 7, 8, & 9th, 2027.
Welcome new members to the IADR.  First, Kellie Beckett, who is a new member from the USA.  She shared that she is a School clinic nurse and she will be creating her favorite little mini-baby dolls in polymer clay.  She also plans to sculpt more 1/12 scale babies and toddlers.
Welcome also to Riva Bryson.  She creates sculptures, dioramas, and mixed-media artworks inspired by mythology and folklore. Using found objects and natural materials gathered from the Wirral, England coastline. Through Flotsam Fables, she invites others to embrace the enchantment found in the overlooked, to listen to the whispered tales of forgotten objects, and to rediscover the mysterious interplay between the material and the spiritual.
Welcome to the IADR!!

What an Adventure...

What an adventure this past couple of weeks have been in Florence, Italy.  Beginning with our setup at the Fortezza Da Basso (Fortress of Basso) and then nine days with the 90th MIDA Florence International Crafts Fair and now setting up for the International Art Doll Registry Art Doll Convention in the Hotel Albani Firenze.
There is a lot of work that goes into creating a convention and I am lucky to have such a great group of artists to work with to make this year's convention happen.
From Fiber Artists to Polymer and more the artists all came together to make a gallery of amazing artwork that surprised several of the visitors who were delighted to see this expression of passion and love for dolls.
For myself, I am always delighted when the new artists who joined us this year, come up and say how happy they were to have been a part of this event.

Some have said that they feel like they have been welcomed into an atmosphere of being in a family that is encouraging and loving as we all share our connections to our dolls.
But, now it is time to pack up and return home.  **Remember ladies to please send me your pictures that we can share them with others through the ARTDOLLS Magazine and here on the website**.
And yes, we are already planning our convention for next year. We hope that you can be a part of it by attending or supporting us with your likes and shares as this convention comes together for 2027.

We also want to welcome to the IADR new members - Sabrina Negro and Caterina Seoli.

Come and Gone...

MIDA - We came, we conquered and now it is time to be looking forward to our IADR Art Doll Convention on May 8-10, 2026 (still in Florence, Italy).
But everyone wants to know if MIDA was worth the time and effort?  It certainly didn't go as I had planned but it went as it should have gone.  What do I mean?
Without having a VAT (like a permit to sell in Italy combination sales tax) which we are still waiting to get (but that is another story), it is hard to decide.
We could only display our dolls - not offer any for purchase, but actually, that was a blessing in disguise.  I can't tell you how many people came through the booth to talk to us and share their stories.
MIDA was 9 days of sharing our love of dolls with the crowd.  I am so grateful to Maria Ciobanu, Claudia Raddi, and Loredana Salvo for being there during the week. This event wouldn't have been as successful if they hadn't changed their schedules.
People were amazed at the artistry of the dolls and one such doll collector who collected only pieces that emotionally move her was in awe by ALL of the amazing art she saw.  The woman with her was actually brought to tears.  There is no way this would have worked as well by trying to sell the dolls at the same time. An artist always is the best one to sell their own work and the space would have not accommodated this.  Again, this was a learning curve and that is exactly what we are going to look at when determining how successful MIDA was for us.
In the meantime, we are forging new friendships. Stevi T and Natalie Ruiz (both IADR members from the USA) have arrived to participate in MIDA and the Convention.  It will be interesting to see and this is the true test --- will people come to our IADR Art Doll Convention from hearing about us at MIDA?  We handed out about 600 to 700 bookmarkers and flyers.

Thank you to Claudia Raddi and Anna Esposito for getting those printed so we could give them out.

Now MIDA is at an end and we are ready to meet up again at the IADR Art Doll Convention this weekend.  If you can't be there in person, do try to see some of our LIVE stream videos (sorry in advance as I am still on a learning curve on how to do them *smile*) and also check out our YouTube channel as I hope to share some of the MIDA event happenings on there soon.
Also, thank you to everyone that helped set-up the MIDA event, the days working the booth, and helping with the take down.  Claudia and her husband were very valuable in taking the dolls after the event in their car because that 15 minute walk to the apartment gets long indeed after nine days (carrying dolls and in the dark after 10:00 pm).  Thank you Everyone!
And remember, our IADR Convention will be held at the Hotel Albani Firenze in Florence, Italy and we still have tickets available for the ART & APERITIVO Night Event and Juried Show Awards.  (To read more - click here).  See you there!
