Renata was born in Edinburgh, Scotland, but grew up in South Africa, where she moved with her family as a young child. She now lives with her daughter Megan, husband David and their 3 cats in England.

She studied textile design at college and worked as a designer for 12 years. Some of that time was in South Africa but she moved to England at the age of 22 and stopped designing in 2005 as the demand for floral designs decreased. Renata is also a very talented painter and you can find some of her work , along with her sculptures, on her website

"I tried painting portraits etc. for a living but although I love painting very much it never comes easily to me , then one day while searching the internet to find out how to sculpt a face for my daughter I found ooak faeries! They were so AMAZING! I had never sculpted in my life and had no idea if I could do it but I fell in love straight away. I had to wait a few months to get the tools and clay for my birthday and I spent that time reading all I could about sculpting, and virtually sculpting in my head! I LOVE sculpting so much and I think its what I have been looking for all my life. I feel I can really express myself best when making faeries and I absolutely LOVE sculpting the human body!"

"I don’t have any favourites of my own work. I have a HUGE amount to learn and my faeries always start off looking SO much better in my head…by the time they are finished we have fallen out and all I can see are their bad points and things that I need to improve on!"

"I could never live with my own work on display. It would drive me crazy if I had to see all the flaws each time I walked past it ".

Renata is inspired by other artist's like many of us and recently saw something she would like to share with us all, a piece of art on eBay that took her breath away! "It is so CLEVER and SO very well made".
