2012 Annual Sculpting Seminar and Retreat Information!

Calling all members! This is your opportunity to spend a week at a rustic lodge on the Mississippi River in Minnesota, just minutes from the Headwaters. Pristine woodsy setting at it's best. This retreat is in August, which is the nicest part of the summer here in MN!

We will be gathering for 5 days of sculpting, learning, sharing and laughing! Check in is the day before, check out is the day after- so 7 days total. Seats are limited so please mark your calendar and get in touch as soon as you can. I'm looking forward to hearing from you!

The cost is 900.00 for the class, your room (shared, but each person has their own bed) and all your meals, also included is transportation from the shuttle to the lodge. More about that later. It's the start of the new month and we have a new Spotlight Artist. This month our artist is the ever popular, Widow Bryant, our very own, Red who has brought us the Boyz and Girlz from the Wood for many years now. Please check out her interview when you have some free time!

Hello Members! I thought I would post a photo of the subject of our first online class. I decided on a mushroom stool/base. It covers many different techniques so I thought it would be a good start.

I am working on the files for it now and hope to have this ready to go in the next week or so. Thank you all for your patience with me as I work through this process. Once we get one going, the rest should be easy! ;) And if you remember, I said that this first online class will be FREE, you will just need to register for it- and we will probably have to limit the number of participants. I'll send out a general email announcement when it's time to register! Be watching!

Hello Members! We now have our CRITIQUE page ready for your use. Look under the Members Only header and click on Critiques- there you will find the form to fill out so you can have your work reviewed. This is a free service for you. Simply follow the directions and your work will be reviewed by at least two advanced level artists from IADR. I hope you'll find this service a helpful tool in improving your work. There is nothing like an objective prospective from an outside source to help identify problem areas! Good luck- have fun with it!

Getting the discount for Prosculpt clay...

Hello Members,

This morning one of our members got in touch with a question about ordering Prosculpt clay from Artdolls.com and getting the 20% discount that Jack Johnston offers us. To be clear, this discount is off the retail price of his product line. And, it is not just for clay, but for other supplies as well. You must call Jack to get the discount, as his computer ordering system does not recognize an IADR discount.

Additionally, he already offers a discount for volume buying, so the 20% discount he offers us as members of IADR is not in addition to already applied discounts for quantity purchases of Prosculpt. The most you will get in discount is 20%, and your purchase does not have to be for a certain amount of product to qualify. You will have to call him directly though, to get this discount applied. Jack mentioned three new DVD's that he has completed and wanted the members to know about them. Here is what he said:

We are back from IDEX and everyone had a wonderful time! I am slowly getting settled back into my normal life and finally had time to do this months Spotlight...it will still stay up a full month, so we will have a new day for our Spotlights and they will be up on the 4th of each month from now on. That said, please check out this months Spotlight and read about the wonderfully talented and very sweet Vicci Noel who's unique Alice piece gained a lot of attention at the IDEX show!
